Best for Playing
As a general rule any swimming pool that has an overall depth between 3 and 5 feet is going to be optimal for a “playing” pool. Just to give you an idea, the majority of pools that are ABOVE ground have a depth of four feet. Since many of them are round with large diameters, they’re often a handy play area to have.
Less Maintenance and Longer Age
If this is what you’re shooting for, then you’re going to want to take a look at a fiberglass swimming pool. Fiberglass pools become more and more popular every year, and its no surprise as to why. They’re much easier to take care of, and they don’t need as much work down the road as they get older.
Customized Shapes
If you’re looking for a wacky shape then your best bet is to go with a concrete or vinyl liner pool. You can pretty much get any pool shape that you want, so feel free to go wild here! While a fiberglass pool is capable of coming in a large variety of shapes, being able to have them completely customized isn’t currently something you can do.
Worst Overall Pool to Get
You’ve probably spotted these giant blue blobs of pool action in various backyards. Maybe you’ve had one, too. Unfortunately, these kinds of pool don’t just look terrible; they have really low filter systems in place. Meaning, they are extremely difficult to keep clean and free from algae. They also will typically need to be replaced after just 1 swim season.
